Pelham Parks & Recreation is proud to announce the grand opening of its brand-new multi-use Hockey and Soccer Court at City Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, June 24 at 6:00 PM.
This exciting new addition to the park will serve as a dynamic space for youth sports practices, games, and community engagement. The ceremony will be a celebration of the growing momentum behind Pelham’s recreational programming and investment in quality athletic spaces.
The evening will begin with a warm welcome from Parks & Recreation, followed by brief remarks from Mayor Gary Waters, and other members of the Pelham City Council.
Following the ribbon cutting, Council members will take to the court for a lighthearted competition, showcasing their skills in both hockey and soccer. Each will be tested with a short series of shots with a puck and soccer ball, with prizes awarded based on performance (spoiler alert: everyone’s a winner).
Youth athletes and coaches will also be on site to witness the event and help kick off the season. “This court is more than just a space to play—it’s a symbol of how Pelham continues to invest in the health, fun, and development of our young athletes,” said Parks & Recreation Director Billy Crandall. Coaches will also be recognized at the event for their dedication and leadership.
The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend, cheer on the Council during their friendly face-off, and celebrate the opening of this exciting new facility.
