Kites & Bites – Sunday, March 8 | 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. | Pelham City Park

March winds create the perfect conditions for flying a kite, and there’s no better place to enjoy them than Pelham City Park. On Sunday, March 8 from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m., Pelham Parks and Recreation invites families to the annual Kites & Bites, a free, laid-back afternoon designed for the whole community.

“Pelham Parks and Recreation loves creating opportunities for families to spend time together outdoors,” said Alicia Walters, Assistant Director. “City Park is such a beautiful space, and this event gives everyone a reason to come out, relax, and enjoy it.”

Guests are encouraged to bring their own kite and show off their skills in the open green space. Limited kite giveaways will also be available for children. Whether you’re a seasoned flyer or teaching your little one for the first time, Kites & Bites is all about enjoying the moment at your own pace.

This year’s event will feature live music from Pine Song Players, a Birmingham-based project created in the musical sphere of southern pines. Founded by musicians Liz and Jim Murray, the group brings together some of the area’s best talent for a show filled with eclectic country, folk, rock, and pop, rich three-part harmonies, and standout musicianship. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket and settle in for an afternoon of great music.

In addition to kite flying and live entertainment, kids can enjoy Hula Hoop Fun, a balloon artist, craft activities, and more. Food trucks, including Orbit City, El Compa Taco, and Kona Ice, will be on-site serving up tasty options throughout the event.

“This is meant to be a fun, relaxed day at the park,” Walters added. “You can listen to music, grab a bite to eat, fly a kite, or simply enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.”

Well-mannered, leashed dogs are welcome.
