While Pelham's population of 24,000 allows us to retain our small-town feel, we have two exits off Interstate 65, offering convenient and easy access to Birmingham, Atlanta, and to the beautiful beaches of South Alabama. Our scenic neighborhoods offer a retreat from the busy world. It’s a wonderful place to call home and a great place to visit. Pelham is located in the foothills of Oak Mountain and boasts some of the most breathtaking views you'll find in Alabama.

Parks

The City of Pelham is home to six parks, each featuring a way to connect with friends, family, and your four-legged friends all while enjoying the outdoors. Our park features range from small green space to large multi-use areas that provide a range of activities and equipment. The Pelham Recreation Center has three regulation size basketball courts, two volleyball courts, and pickleball courts, in addition to an indoor walking track, a weight and cardio area, a spin room, and an exercise room.

Recreation

With the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice ArenaBallantrae Golf Club and nationally recognized Pelham Racquet Club, this city definitely has a wide variety of recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy. Alabama's largest state park, Oak Mountain State Park, is in Pelham, as well!. Scenic hiking trails, horseback riding, a petting farm for littles, fishing, boating and golf are just a few of the activities offered at this beautiful park located on 11,000+ acres. Visitors are welcome at the Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena for a session of ice skating, or if tennis is your game, the Pelham Racquet Club will be happy to schedule a match. Both facilities are state of the art.

Greenway Trail

Pelham's Greenway Trail is a six-and-a-half-mile trail system that will eventually connect the sidewalks along Bearden Road to the entrance of Oak Mountain State Park. Phase I of the trail opened in the summer of 2020 and stretches from Bearden Road, through the City Park Complex, and past the Dog Park. Planning and design work for Phase II is underway. The extension will connect the City Park to neighborhoods along Cahaba Valley Creek (also known as Bishop creek), Pelham's entertainment area and Amphitheater Road, and the entrance of Oak Mountain State Park.

Entertainment

The Oak Mountain Amphitheater schedules concerts May through September. The Pelham Civic Complex & Ice Arena is home to The Birmingham Bulls, a Southern Professional Hockey League team and the Birmingham Figure Skating club. Watch a game or performance with the whole family.
